Working Around Clayton
Clayton is a small city with City Hall on Heritage Trail, Endeavor Hall at the center of the old town, and Marsh Creek Road heading out toward the hills. The Mitchell Canyon staging area for Mount Diablo State Park has a Clayton address, so we hear from hikers who come back to the lot with an empty pocket. At homes, the work is mostly lock changes and lockouts, and we come from Concord with everything in the van.
The town is named for Joel Clayton, born in Bugsworth, Derbyshire, England. In 1857 he came to the valley, bought land in the Mitchell Canyon area and laid out a town meant to serve the mining and farming around it. He planned a town before most people arrived, a little like putting a good lock on a door before you need it.

Straight talk about price
On the phone you tell us what happened, and we give you a ballpark based on that. When the technician arrives, the first thing he does is look at the lock and make sure it matches what you described. A door that sounded simple can turn out to be a different story, and sometimes it is the other way around.
Then you hear the final number, before a single tool touches the lock. You decide, and only then we start. No surprises on the bill, and the receipt carries our license number, LCO 8138.
A name with a reason behind it
Soufiane Gmira named the company in honor of his great-grandfather, who fought in Vietnam. The respect for people who served never left him, and it is the reason every active duty service member and veteran gets a discount from us.
Military and veteran discount. Mention it when you call. That is all it takes.
Asked by neighbors
I lost my car key hiking out of Mitchell Canyon. Can you come to the parking lot?
Yes, we come to where the car is. We cut and program a new key there, including smart keys and push-to-start fobs for most makes. Bring your ID and proof of ownership, like the registration. If your papers are locked inside the car, tell us when you call and we will open the car first.
Do you offer a discount for veterans in Clayton?
Yes. Patriot Lock And Key offers a military and veteran discount. Mention your service when you call and we will explain how it applies to your job. The ballpark on the phone and the final price at the door are always given before work begins, so you know where you stand.
Can you change the locks on my side gate and garage entry door too?
Yes. Side gates, garage entry doors, back doors and sliding door locks are all part of a lock change. We look at each one, tell you which can be rekeyed and which should be replaced, and give you the full price before starting. You decide what gets done.
