Around Orinda Village and Theatre Square
Orinda has two small downtown districts, Orinda Village along Orinda Way and the Theatre District around Theatre Square, with the Orinda BART station between them. That is where many car calls start: a key dropped on the way to the train, or locked in the car outside the Orinda Theatre, the Art Deco movie house that opened in 1941. We also open storage units, cabinets and mailboxes when the small key has vanished.
Orinda's name comes from poetry. In 1875 William Camron bought the land, and his wife Alice admired the 17th century English poet Katherine Philips, who wrote as The Matchless Orinda. Alice insisted they call the property Orinda Park. A town named by a reader of poems deserves a front door that opens without drama.

Straight talk about price
On the phone you tell us what happened, and we give you a ballpark based on that. When the technician arrives, the first thing he does is look at the lock and make sure it matches what you described. A door that sounded simple can turn out to be a different story, and sometimes it is the other way around.
Then you hear the final number, before a single tool touches the lock. You decide, and only then we start. No surprises on the bill, and the receipt carries our license number, LCO 8138.
A name with a reason behind it
Soufiane Gmira named the company in honor of his great-grandfather, who fought in Vietnam. The respect for people who served never left him, and it is the reason every active duty service member and veteran gets a discount from us.
Military and veteran discount. Mention it when you call. That is all it takes.
Asked by neighbors
I lost my key fob and the car is parked at the Orinda BART station. Can you come there?
Yes. We come to the car wherever it is parked. If the fob is lost or broken, we can cut and program a new smart key or push-to-start fob for most makes right there. Bring your ID and proof of ownership. Call with the year, make and model and we will give you a ballpark before heading out.
I lost the key to my storage unit lock. Can you open it without wrecking anything?
We start with non-destructive methods. Some storage locks are built to resist that, and if cutting or drilling is the only way in, we explain why and wait for your yes. Be ready to show that the unit is yours. Afterward we can fit a new lock so you are not left with an open door.
We just bought a house in Orinda. Should we rekey or replace the locks?
If the locks work well and you like them, a rekey is enough: the old keys stop working and the hardware stays. If they are worn or damaged, or you want a different style or a smart lock, we replace them. Either way the technician gives you the final price at the door, and you decide.
