Start with what happened
Novato Car Keys and Fobs
Lost keys, broken fobs, push-to-start remotes. We cut and program at the car for most makes, in a driveway, a shopping lot or by a SMART station. Proof of ownership required.

Keys inside the car or the house? We open it with non-destructive methods first, and drilling only happens after we explain why and you say yes.

Dead batteries, a code nobody remembers, an app that will not pair. We sort out smart locks on Novato homes and get the door working the way it should.

New place in Hamilton or near Old Town? A rekey makes the previous keys useless. If a lock is worn out, we show you and price a new one first.

Novato, From Old Town to the Old Air Base
Novato covers a lot of ground. Old Town sits along Grant Avenue, neighborhoods like Ignacio and San Marin spread out from there, and the Hamilton neighborhood grew up on the former air base. Three SMART stations, Novato San Marin, Novato Downtown and Novato Hamilton, mean cars parked at the platform all day while their owners ride to work. We come over from Concord and work at your curb, your driveway or the lot.
A small surprise for anyone who lives here: the Novato History Museum says the railroad depot built in 1879 at Grant and Railroad was the start of "New Town" Novato. That New Town is what everyone now calls Old Town. Names change over the years. Keys do too, and a rekey is the simple way to make sure the old ones stop working.

Straight talk about price
On the phone you tell us what happened, and we give you a ballpark based on that. When the technician arrives, the first thing he does is look at the lock and make sure it matches what you described. A door that sounded simple can turn out to be a different story, and sometimes it is the other way around.
Then you hear the final number, before a single tool touches the lock. You decide, and only then we start. No surprises on the bill, and the receipt carries our license number, LCO 8138.
A name with a reason behind it
Soufiane Gmira named the company in honor of his great-grandfather, who fought in Vietnam. The respect for people who served never left him, and it is the reason every active duty service member and veteran gets a discount from us.
Military and veteran discount. Mention it when you call. That is all it takes.
Asked by neighbors
Our house in the Hamilton neighborhood has different keys for every door. Can you put them on one key?
Often, yes. If the locks are compatible and in good shape, we can rekey them so one key runs them all. Where a lock cannot take it, the technician tells you why and prices a replacement before any work starts. You decide what gets done, and you get an itemized receipt with our license number.
My key fob died while the car sat at a Novato SMART station. What now?
Call with the year, make and model and tell us where the car is parked. We give you a ballpark on the phone, then cut and program a new key or fob right at the car. Smart keys and push-to-start fobs are covered for most makes. Bring proof that the car is yours.
Is there a Patriot shop in Novato where I can drop off my keys?
No, and that is on purpose. Patriot Lock And Key is a mobile locksmith based in Concord with no walk-in shop. The van carries the key machine and the tools, so we come to your home, your business or your car anywhere in Novato, every day from 7:30 AM to 11:30 PM.
