Rekeys and Car Keys for the Castro Valley Community
New keys in Castro Valley usually start with a move: a house just bought, a rental turned over, a spare nobody can account for. We rekey the locks you already have, make car keys at the car, and get you back inside when the door shuts on you.

Castro Valley, From the Canyons to the Boulevard
Castro Valley has no city hall. It is an unincorporated community, and its neighborhoods grew out of old orchards and poultry farms. Alameda County's historic survey names places like Hillcrest Knolls and Fairmont, and the canyon roads run out through Crow Canyon and Cull Canyon. Much of the housing went up after the war, so some doors may still carry the locks they came with. We work the whole valley, from Castro Village to the BART station on Norbridge Drive.
One most newcomers have not heard: Alameda County's historic survey says that in the 1920s Castro Valley had about 2,000 people and 800,000 hens. BART still mentions the valley was once known for its chicken ranches. A hook and eye was good enough for a henhouse. The houses that replaced the coops deserve a real lock.

Straight talk about price
On the phone you tell us what happened, and we give you a ballpark based on that. When the technician arrives, the first thing he does is look at the lock and make sure it matches what you described. A door that sounded simple can turn out to be a different story, and sometimes it is the other way around.
Then you hear the final number, before a single tool touches the lock. You decide, and only then we start. No surprises on the bill, and the receipt carries our license number, LCO 8138.
A name with a reason behind it
Soufiane Gmira named the company in honor of his great-grandfather, who fought in Vietnam. The respect for people who served never left him, and it is the reason every active duty service member and veteran gets a discount from us.
Military and veteran discount. Mention it when you call. That is all it takes.
Asked by neighbors
We just bought a house near Lake Chabot. Should we rekey or replace the locks?
Most of the time a rekey is enough. We change the pins inside the locks you already have, so the previous owner's keys stop working and one new key can run every door. If a lock is worn or damaged, the technician shows you and prices a replacement before starting. You choose.
I lost my car key near Castro Valley BART. Can you come to the car?
Yes. The van carries a key cutting machine and programming tools, so the key is cut and programmed where the car is parked. That covers smart keys and push-to-start fobs for most makes. Have proof of ownership ready, and give us the year, make and model on the phone for a ballpark.
We could not find a locksmith shop anywhere in the valley. How does a mobile locksmith work?
The van is the shop. Patriot Lock And Key is based in Concord with no walk-in location, and the van comes to your door, driveway or parking spot any day of the week, early morning to late evening. Describe the problem on the phone for a ballpark, and the technician gives the final price after checking the lock.
